Welcome to our Zoe Alexander Best Food For Tennis Guide on what we have found works for our tennis players.
Let’s begin play and serve what they love to drink 30-60 minutes before they step on court, the pomegranate and orange smoothie.
Best Food for Tennis Players – The Pomegranate and Orange Smoothie
Ingredients
- One pomegranate, approx 250g (9 oz)
- Two large oranges, total approx 500-600g (20-21 oz)
- Water to your preferred taste
Method
Peel the two oranges, quarter and remove the pips.
Peel the pomegranate and separate the red seeds from the white/yellow pith.
Pop the orange and pomegranate seeds into your blender and blend at high speed for 30 seconds, or alternatively, squeeze through a citrus fruit squeezer.
If necessary filter the juice for any seeds, if you want.
Then pour into glass tumblers.
Enjoy and you’ll definitely see the difference in tennis performance!
What our tennis athletes said
Our players love this refreshing fruit drink about 30 minutes before they start training or warm-up for a competition.
Their feedback….“Yummy!”, “Makes me feel re-energised”, “I feel great!”, “Delicious and fruity!”, “Wow!”, “Tasty!”.
But aside from these positive comments, they go through their 90-120 minute training programme/game focussed, full of energy and able to train/compete without the need for extra calorie intake. The only accompaniment is water, sipped throughout training or the match.
So that’s “Game, Set and Match!” from our Zoe Alexander Tennis Team!
